(and it was nice to SLEEP through the night!)
We left our house at 4:00 AM. yes, early! But, we wanted to have the whole day to spend in the city. We drove the white whale (our van). It was nice and cozy. We watched the movie Bridesmaids on the way there, and listened to music, and slept (well, not Jared!)
Kristen was excited! haha Stacy was in the way back asleep already. Norm was sleeping here, too!
Jared was our driver. He was thrilled I was taking his picture.... ha!
We made really good time from our house to the Newark, NJ train station...
We parked the white whale in the parking garage where we would leave it overnight. As we were just about to walk away from the van toward the train station, we heard this noise and clouds of black smoke and little pieces of dirt/crud spraying RIGHT ON THE WHALE!!!
See!!!!
See!!!!
Thank goodness we saw this before we parked overnight because our whale would have no longer been known as the white whale!!!
When Jared saw this, he immediately dropped his bags, ran to the van, moved it to a new parking space, and started cleaning it off!
Now, we were finally ready to get to the train station!!
Here we are about to get on the train for our quick 20 minute ride into NYC!!!
Me and Stacy sat on the train together!
Here we are! Walking off the subway into the city!
Stacy- in front of Madison Square Garden
Macy's
Empire State Building
the BALL! :) yay 2012
Times Square!
We walked from the train station to our hotel...Westin Times Square. We had breakfast on the way. :) It was too early to check in so they kept our bags for us until our room was ready for us later in the day.
We walked over toward Rockefeller Plaza from our hotel...checking out all the cool NYC buildings and places....
Radio City Music Hall
We watched ice skating at the plaza!
30 Rock! :)
Kristen and her Dundie award! We were in the NBC store before our NBC studio tour!!!
We were just visiting a few shops while waiting for our NBC studio tour to start!!!
The NBC studio tour was AWESOME!!! We got to see the SNL studio, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon studio, and Dr. Oz studio. Really. cool.
After the studio tour, we did more walking and sight seeing. We saw Trump Tower....
"You're fired!"
Tiffany's!!!!
We also walked to Central Park and more cool places, but I can't post every single picture I took! (there were more than 200 pics!)
After Central Park, we got metro tickets and rode the subway down to the World Trade Center Memorial. Sad face though....we weren't able to see the memorial. We did not know you had to have tickets in advance for that. (security reasons) So that was sad, but oh well. Next time we will know! We headed from there over to the Brooklyn Bridge. We decided to walk across it...halfway. It was really cool!
After that, we got on a Taxi because we wanted to see the Oddities store, Obscura! have you ever seen that show? Jared and Stacy watch it all the time. And they have gotten all of us hooked on it, too. Anyway, we had to take a taxi because it was FARther than we could walk! We made it there, but they were CLOSED! They usually are open until 8PM, but they are moving their shop this week and they were finishing packing stuff up for the move. However, even though they were closed, Jared saw the door open and he barged right in. We were shocked that Mike and Evan (from the show) were there!!! It was so cool to see them since we watch them on TV. Anyway, Jared ended up talking to them and they were SO nice to talk with all of us and let us in even though they were closed.
Jared got autographs!
and they offered to take a picture with all of us!!! So awesome! Evan gave me a jar of bones to hold!!!
Jared was soooooo happy. Here is is proudly showing off his autographed postcard!
We then headed by walk and metro back to our hotel to finally check in. We checked in to our hotel, sat down for 5 minutes, and then headed back out! We walked around Times Square at night and stopped at Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.
Then, we did more walking around Times Square and went in some more stores.
We were EXHAUSTED from being up so early (and not really sleeping the night before!) and doing so much walking, etc. Right around midnight, we all were passed out, sleeping soundly. It was amazing to get a full night's sleep without getting up 15+ times to put the paci back in Isabella's mouth! We slept until almost 10AM!!!!! I felt like I was back in college! hahaha
We all woke up and had to take turns taking showers and getting ready. So it was lunch time byt the time we checked out of our hotel.
Stacy slept on the floor! We made her a bed out of comforters!!! :) She was so tired she did not even care she was on the floor! haha
Kristen... getting ready!
Sunday morning, we did a little more walking around/sightseeing Times Square area before we had lunch and walked to the train station to head back.
When we were about 2 blocks from the Burger King we stopped at on the way to the trian station, I suddenly realized I LEFT MY BOOKBAG under my seat on the floor!!! When I told Jared, he did not even say one word, he just turned around and RAN! HAHA He came back with my bookbag! Luckily, it was still there! Jared said the worker at BK said, "Man, you done lucky that noone grabbed that bag in New York City!"
(I had my purse on me though with all my valuables-camera, wallet, cell phone) All that was in my bookbag was my make up, dirty clothes from the previous day, and my cell charger. regardless, i was glad to have it back!!!
