Haircuts and Fixing Cars

Why spend money at the barber shop for a haircut when you have Super Nana!?!?

Jayden has had several haircuts. And it is pretty much the most awful experience every time he goes to the barber shop. The first time he went, he did GREAT! All the other times, not so much! He SCREAMS, has major tears, FIGHTS it like crazy, and just has major meltdowns. We pay for it, too! Jayden has needed a haircut for a while now, but we just dread taking him....

Thankfully, my mom (AKA Super Nana) knows how to cut hair! My parents came to visit us yesterday and spend some time with Jayden. While here, Nana gave Jayden a haircut. :)

How could he not be more comfy... chillin in his diaper, sitting in his own chair, in the comfort of his own living room, watching Mickey Mouse, eating a tootsie pop, with Nana, PopPop, and Mommy keeping his attention. :)

He loves lollipops!

Thank you, Nana and PopPop for playing with Jayden and giving him this cute haircut!

I think he looks so much like Jared now with his new haircut. He is such a cutie! :) Here he is eating breakfast this morning...

After breakfast, he watched a little bit of Handy Manny and he immediately got out his tools and his Buzz car. He turned the Buzz car on its side and starting using his screwdriver on the tire! hahaha It was cute.

He wanted to be like Handy Manny and put his tools to good use!

In other news.... Less than 2 weeks until Isabella gets here!!!!!!!!! (we are still hoping our ultrasound technician was right in saying it is a girl.... I keep getting this feeling that the baby is going to come out a boy!) :/

38 weeks!

Yesterday I went to my 38 week appointment! I can't believe that Isabella will be here in just TWO weeks! :)

Jared was able to come to my appointment with me because we had a friend watch Jayden. Thank you, Melissa! It was very nice for Jared to go with me. He has not been to many appointments this time around because of work and keeping Jayden while I go. I have tried bringing Jayden, but it is TOO hard keeping him occupied because I always have to wait forever!

Everything is going smoothly. I have been having contractions, but not consistent or close enough together to keep track.

My belly measured at 37 weeks, but it has been measuring a week early or right on time the whole time. My blood pressure was good, Isabella's heartbeat was good (160) and I am 2 cm dilated 60% effaced. The doctor I saw said I will definitely not make it to my due date and she thinks sometime this week I will have the baby. But, she said I need to walk a lot to bring her down just a little more. I am not holding my breath that she will come this week just because I think all doctors tell you that at the end! haha We will see! My next appointment is scheduled for next Wed. Even if Isabella does not come early, there is only a couple more weeks before we get to meet her!

What/ who do you think she will look like? I think since Jayden looks so much like me, Isabella is going to look more like Jared. I predict a full head of dark hair! Or maybe she will come out looking just like Jayden did. ??????????

I finally got some sleep last night. I have been sleeping on the couch for the past couple weeks because I can prop myself up better than in a bed. I pretty much sleep sitting up with my head leaning to the side on mounds of pillows! But, usually I have insomnia and can't sleep much. Last night was the first night of sleep in a looong time! Why do I still feel tired???? I know it is not going to get easier when Isabella comes as far as sleep, but at least I will not be carrying 35 extra pounds!

We can't wait to meet Isabella!!!!!!

Oh, today Jayden's friend Sienna came over to play and have lunch. They were so cute having lunch together at the little table! :)

Staying Cool on a Hot Day and Sprout B-day Cards

It has been SO HOT lately. Like over 100 degrees with the heat index being close to 120! and humid. Needless to say, we have been staying inside to stay cool. Yesterday, Jared decided to fill up our garden tub (after he cleaned it out because we never use it!) and play in the tub with Jayden. Jayden loves water so what a fun way to play without going outside in the brutal heat!

Jayden had a lot of fun...and splashed water ALL over the place...... I just watched and took a couple pictures. :)

Today, Jared was back at work and I took Jayden to story time. It had been a few weeks since we had vacation and visitors and other things going on. It was nice to catch up with our friends and get Jayden to the library for story time. He was good. One funny thing that happened......

At the beginning, the lady goes around the circle and the kids get to clap and say their names one at a time. When it got to Jayden, I said his name and Jayden said, "What!?!" really loud! It was funny. Everyone laughed and then continued to the next kid. haha

Jayden's second favorite channel (after Disney) is SPROUT. He likes to watch Sesame Street. One thing about that channel that is really cute is they show birthday cards on your child's birthday. You have to send it in about 2 weeks in advance. Stacy was supposed to make the card with me, but we never got to it the other day. So, today when Jayden was taking his nap, I worked on his sprout birthday card! :)

It says on the website that they do not show every card that is submitted. If your card is not chosen to show, they just put the child's name to flash across the bottom of the screen. Even if they don't show it, it was fun to make! :)

I wonder if it will show up on TV on his bday? :)

What are you having?

So I have to set this up just a little bit. Last night Jared and I went to Texas Roadhouse with Stacy for dinner.

We had already ordered our food with our waitress.

Another server (not our waitress) came over and brought Jared his chili. Stacy and I were waiting for our salads and we could see another server coming with them right behind the chili server.

Then the chili server looked at me...

server: "What are you having?"
me: "a salad"
server: "i mean the baby"
me: "oh.... a girl! haha"

This is really not as funny typed out as it was when it really happened, but we laughed a lot! haha

Mr. Potato Head

I feel like I've been a blogging machine the past few days! :) Maybe because the heat index is freaking 120 degrees so I am staying inside! That is also why you keep seeing pictures/videos of Jayden in his diaper. It is hot outside, but it is nice and cool in our house. However, Jayden prefers to walk around in his diaper... and if we arent going anywhere...it is fine with me! He is funny!

Anyways...............

Today, we received a package from Jordan (Jared's brother) and Danielle (Jordan's girlfriend). Jayden opened the present ALL by himself. I did not help him one tiny bit! I took this picture, and before you know it, he had pulled out his gift!

MR. POTATO HEAD! HOW AWESOME!

Jordan and Danielle live in Chicago, so I took this video clip of Jayden opening his gift so they could see it! (please excuse the mess in the background... jayden has been making a mess all day and I have not bothered to pick anything up yet!)

THANK YOU guys for such a cool gift. Jayden's first Mr. Potato Head! We hope to see you guys soon! :)

Jayden's lunch date

This was just too cute not to post. Today at lunch, Jayden carried Mickey over and sat him at the table with him. I guess he just wanted Mickey to keep him company at his little table today for lunch! It was really sweet. :)

It got even sweeter when he stood up and walked over to Mickey to offer him some peaches. LOL

Here is a video clip of Jayden saying "Here you go!" as he offers Mickey some peaches for lunch. Notice the peach droppings under Mickey's mouth on the table! ha ha

And one more thing. I just opened a pack of newborn size diapers to get ready for Isabella. I can't believe how tiny newborn size diapers are!!! Especially compared to Jayden's size 4 diaper! Crazy! And so dang cute! :)

Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes!

For Jayden's birthday, he received a Leaptop laptop toy. Actually he got two of them (thank you Rachel/Justin and Norm/Kristen!) Anyway, he pretty much LOVES it! I mean L.O.V.E.S. it! It plays music, teaches him ABCs, letter sounds, lots of vocabulary, reads emails to him, and lots more! Yesterday, he was listening and dancing to some music and I started teaching him the motions to "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." He thought it was great! This morning, he got up, came downstairs, flipped open his leaptop, sat on the couch, and went right to that song. He sat there playing it over and over. It is so funny to watch him because he can't keep up with the motions yet! And when the song ends, he immediately pushes the button through all the other songs until he gets to this one again! I got a video clip for you to see this cute little boy in action. He even tries to sing it!

I'm sure he will have this song mastered soon...he will know all the words and motions if he keeps practicing it as much as he has been! :)

36 weeks 3 days

Today, I had my check up at the doctor. There has not really been any change since my appointment last week. I am still 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Baby's heartbeat was good (in the 150s), blood pressure was good, bladder infection is gone, everything is going fine! I can't believe how close August 14 is... I wonder if Isabella will come early?

Right now on the news they are talking about how HOT it is here... and how HOT it is going to be tomorrow. All I can say is thank goodness for AC. AC is my best friend. And fans. I always have fans blowing on me these days! :)

Until next time.... bye!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday! We gave her her presents last weekend because we knew we would not see her today on her actual birthday.

On Mother's Day, me/Jared, Norm, and Stacy all got her a Pandora charm bracelet and we each picked out one charm for the bracelet. For her birthday, Jayden picked out a charm to add to her bracelet.

Here she is opening her charm from Jayden.

Jayden loves his Nana! :)

checking out her new charm!

Jared and I got her this awesome cupcake decorator. Jared's mom gave me one of these for Christmas and we have been using it a lot recently to decorate cakes/cupcakes. Now what we have used this, I don't think we will ever go back to icing cupcakes the "regular" way! This thing is AWESOME! Now, mom has her own, too!

Dad decided to surprise mom last weekend with a gift, too. Actually, it was quite a surprise to us all! He had Stacy help him pick out a beach charm while we were on vacation this year. Since we go to the beach every summer, this was the perfect charm for him to give her! Now, Nana has a special charm from everyone in her family. (except Isabella!) :)

Happy Birthday, Mom! We love you very much! Have a great day!!!! xoxo

Happy Birthday, Grammie!

The week before Jayden's Mickey Party, Jared's brother Justin and his family came to visit. I am super close with my sister-in-law, Rachel, so we love any time we get to visit with them! They brought their two children (our nephews) Andrew and Brandon. Andrew is about 4 1/2 years old and Brandon is about 19 months. Jayden had a blast playing with his cousins. They flew in on Tuesday and stayed with Jared's mom in Richmond. On Wednesday, the all drove up to Fredericksburg and spent the day here with us. We grilled out for lunch, hung out, had a nice dinner together, and Rachel went to my 36 week appt. with me. Thursday and Friday, we went down to Richmond and spent the days at Jared's mom's house. (AKA Grammie) Today, is Grammie's real birthday, but we went ahead and celebrated it last Thursday while everyone was in town. We ate downtown at Bottoms Up Pizza, had yummy Ukrop's cake, and played games at Dave and Busters. Friday we took the kids to the park and just enjoyed relaxing and spending time together. Saturday was Jayden's party then they had to head back to Florida. We miss them already!

Hope you have a great birthday, Grammie! :)

And we can't wait till our next visit, Rachel and Justin!!! xoxo

Norm and Kristen

Jared and I moved to Fredericksburg in June 2007. Jared had accepted a job with Target and that is why we moved here from Radford. We did not know anyone at all, but we were glad it was only an hour away from our family in Richmond. Soon after moving to Fredericksburg, I was offered a teaching position in Spotsy. Co. I was so excited and headed out to "new teacher orientation" in August. I met a couple girls there who happened to live in the same apartment complex as me. They were going to be high school teachers. As I was walking around the big room for orientation, I ran into Kristen. I said hi and asked her what school/grade she would be teaching. It turned out, she was going to be at the same school as me! She was going to be teaching kindergarten and I was going to be teaching second grade. We talked and exchanged phone numbers and became instant friends! :) We did all the new teacher stuff together, including the trolly ride around Fredericksburg!

Kristen and I have been good friends ever since. We used to hang out often at my old apartment. We were thrilled that the house Jared and I bought is only minutes down the street from Kristen. Now we see eachother all the time.

When I was pregnant with Jayden, Kristen was "the friend" at my work baby shower who wrote down all my gifts.

Look at her long hair!!! :)

When Jayden was just about one week old, Kristen came over to our apartment to meet him. We called her "Auntie Kristen" since we were such good friends. Here is the first picture of Jayden with his Auntie Kristen. so cute! :)

It was that very same day that my brother Norm came to Fredericksburg to see Jayden. (He had come to the hospital, but this was his first real visit with Jayden.) Norm and Kristen met that day in August 2009. I still remember Norm sending me a message on facebook telling me he and Kristen talked in the parking lot of my apartment complex for a while before they left and Norm thought she was so cool. I think he wanted me to set them up or something right then, but I did not even think anything of it at all! haha Here is Jayden with his Uncle Norm. :)

Kristen and I continued to be great friends. For Jayden's first birthday party, Kristen came over to help me make and decorate Jayden's Sesame Street Cake and Elmo Cupcakes. We had a blast doing this party together! :)

It was at Jayden's first birthday party when Kristen and Norm hung out again...a year later! They played ladder ball outside together. I remember my family saying how cute they looked together!

As time went on, Kristen and I remained such good friends. She came to my house for my family Christmas party in December 2010. She had gotten to know our whole family!

Here is a picture from the Christmas Cookie Exchange :)

I guess it was that party that Kristen and Norm really hit it off. Because shortly after that party, they started dating! I don't know exactly how it started, but they have been going strong for about 6 months now! :)

Here they are at Kristen's "Golden Globes Party!" (which was so much fun, by the way!)

They have been to Phillies games together!

Kristen and Stacy :)

Here is a picture of Kristen and I at my work baby shower for Isabella in June 2011.

Kristen and my mom hosted a sprinkle for me and Isabella on June 26, 2011. It was held at Kristen's house. It was so much fun!

A couple weeks ago, July 2-9, our family spent a week at the beach for our summer vacation. Kristen joined us this year. It was great! Here is a picture of Norm and Kristen at the beach. :)

Now we have made it to Jayden's 2nd Birthday party. This time, the party was at Nana and Pop Pop's house. Norm and Kristen are still going strong! I love these pictures of them from the party. They are playing cornhole outside. Aren't they cute?????

awww :)

Norm gave Kristen a lot of Mickey Mouse tattoos at the party :)

Jayden and Kristen

Will Auntie Kristen become Jayden's REAL Auntie Kristen? Only time will tell! :)
