Norm and Kristen are Getting Married!

This is another blog post that I am late on posting, but it is an important one!  =)

On June 2, 2012 (Norm's Birthday!) Norm proposed to Kristen and she said Yesss!  Yay!

Of course, I could not be any happier that my brother is going to marry by best friend!  It is pretty awesome!  Kristen was the first friend I made in Fredericksburg.  We met at new teacher orientation for Spotsylvania County and we were both hired to teach at the same school!  Kristen had just moved to Fredericksburg from Indiana and Jared and I had just moved to Fredericksburg from Radford.  I went up to Kristen and introduced myself to her because she looked like someone I would be friends with! (ha!)  We exchanged phone numbers that day and became instant friends!

It was when Jayden was born that Norm and Kristen met for the first time.  Norm came to Fredericksburg to visit Jayden.  Jayden was one week old.  The date was August 27, 2009.  Kristen came over, too, so she could meet Jayden.  We hung out in my apartment in Fredericksburg and Norm and Kristen left at the same time.  They talked in the parking lot of the apartment complex for a while and that was that.  Funny story about this day was Norm actually sent me a facebook message saying, "Your friend Kristen is pretty cool...tell her to give me a call if she ever wants to hang out in Richmond."  haha I read it and honestly did not think abything of it at all... that is a true story!  =)

Now fast forward to ONE YEAR LATER......

It was one year later on Jayden's first birthday that Norm and Kristen met again.  As my good friend, Kristen came over to help me bake and decorate Jayden's special first birthday cake.

Norm and Kristen played ladder ball in our backyard together at the party.  This picture is taken from our back deck.  It was so funny because some people in our family were standing in the kitchen and we were talking about how Norm and Kristen made a really cute couple!  That's when I poked my head outside to snap this picture!  haha  Who would have thought?!?!?  =)

Now fast forward a few months later to December 2010......

It was December 2010 and Jared and I wanted to have our whole family to our house for a Christmas dinner/ cookie exchange.  We were just so excited for our first Christmas in our new house!  Being such a close friend to me, I invited Kristen, too!  She knew Norm was going to be there, so she went out and bought a new sweater to wear! ha!

this was at the cookie exchange part of the party :)

Soon after that (New Years Eve 2010) Norm and Stacy came up from Richmond to spend New Years Eve at our house.  It was just us and Kristen!  Norm and Kristen hit it off and from that night on, the rest is history!  They had their first "official" date in January 2011.

Anyway, our family could not be any happier to welcome Kristen into our family.  Kristen and Norm are perfect for each other!

The day they got engaged was June 2, 2012.  It was Norm's 26th Birthday.  He proposed at Maymont Park on a picnic date!  After the proposal, we spent the rest of the day at my parents' house celebrating their engagement and Norm's birthday!  What a special day!!!!!

50 years!

All this talk about birthdays makes me want to post about a big birthday that we just celebrated in July!

My mom turned the big 5-0 on July 20.  We had a big birthday celebration on July 8 at her neighborhood clubhouse.  It was a SUPRISE party.... and we actually pulled it off!  This is not easy to do, especially if you know my mom!  I had been planning the party for months (literally) and it was a perfect day!  My mom's brother and his family came all the way from Texas to surprise her and celebrate with us.  My aunts and grandma each helped with the food, my brother Norm made an awesome slideshow, we had games, lots of special details to make it a fun party!  I have soooo many pictures, but I must post some so we will always remember this awesome party on my blog! =)

Happy 50th, Mom!!!  xoxo
