almost 6 weeks!

Monkey Baby

I said it was going to be a surprise... but it is too cute to wait! I have to share it now! haha

When I was still pregnant, I purchased Jayden's first Halloween costume. It is a monkey!!!

I thought I would try it on just to make sure it fit and would work for Halloween. First I put on the body part which is like a stuffed pillow! He didn't cry! Then I added the feet. He still didn't cry! Finally, I put the head on. I thought for sure this would make him go crazy and start crying, but to my surprise, he actually did not mind it! He wore it for about 15 minutes before he got fussy!!! So here is your sneak peak of Jayden's monkey costume! I hope he will wear it on Halloween, too! :)

Jayden is now 5 weeks old. I am enjoying all of my time with him before I go back to work on Thursday. I can't believe Thursday will be October 1!!! It is going to be hard being away from the baby while I go to work, but I know he will be in good hands. The first 2 days Jared is going to stay home with him. Then he will be with Nana (my mom) the next week, daddy the second week, and Grammie (Jared's mom) the third week. Then, he will start day care. We wanted to keep him with family as much as possible before daycare. This will make it a MUCH easier transition for all of us, especially me! Also, it means Jayden will be 9 weeks instead of 6 when starting daycare.

He is finally starting to enjoy spending time in his swings!!! He is actually even falling asleep in his swing, too!! (which is where he is right now)

I just went to take Fred out and I am in love with the cooler weather! I LOVE fall. This is my favorite time of the year. October! I love when the weather gets cooler, leaves change colors, my birthday, and knowing that all my favorite holidays are just around the corner! Halloween, Thanksgiving, our wedding Anniversary, and Christmas! These next few months are going to be great! I am looking forward to Halloween because Rachel, Justin and Andrew are coming to visit! And, of course, it will be Jayden's first Halloween. I have already bought him an adorable costume... I am not telling what it is. You will have to wait and see pictures! (if he will even wear it haha)

Well, I need to go do some things around here while the baby is sleeping. Happy Saturday!

Jayden's first "real" bath

Jayden is 5 weeks old. So far, we have just given him sponge baths where we just lay him on his little tub on a towel and kind of just wipe him down with a washcloth.

Today was the big day. He got his first "real" bath where he actually sat in water! It was soooooooooooooooooooo cute and he LOVED it!

He still sat in his little baby tub. (Thank you, Hesch family!!!!) We love the tub- it is perfect!

Let me explain... besides the fact that we LOVEEEE cookie cake and get one any chance we get to celebrate something! ...
We knew mom and dad were going to be thrilled that Stacy finally got a part time job while still in college. So we thought it would be fun to surprise them by telling them on a cookie cake. I asked the cookie cake lady to decorate it with "I got a job" and when mom came home from work, Stacy held it up and showed her the great news!

Congratulations, Stacy!!! We are so excited for you! :)

Tina and Johnny's Wedding

I have been friends with Tina since like kindergarten! We were in girl scouts together, played dress up, put on plays, etc as kids. Tina and her boyfriend Johnny moved to Hawaii after college for what was supposed to be 6 months, but they loved it so much and have been there ever since! They got engaged in Hawaii and this past weekend 09-19-09 they were married. They came back to VA to get married and it was great seeing them. Actually, since Hawaii is so far away, Tina had her wedding shower one weekend and the wedding was the next weekend.

Stephanie is also a friend I have had for a while now. She and I met in high school. She and her husband Kyle were high school sweethearts like me and Jared and all four of us have been friends since high school. We even went to prom together! :) Stephanie was Tina's matron of honor and she had the shower for Tina at her parent's house in Richmond (she lives in Deleware)... it was so nice!!! Steph did a GREAT job planning every detail!

It was great catching up with them and sharing in Tina's special time!!!

Stephanie and Kyle have a 5 almost 6 month old baby girl named Mackenzie. She is adorable! At the end of the shower, my mom went and picked up Jayden so Tina, Stephanie and baby Mackenzie could meet him. Here is our picture...

Gosh we really are growing up! getting married and having babies!!!


The weekend after the shower was the wedding. Tina and Johnny were married at a winery in Crozet, VA (near UVA) It was GORGEOUS... you will see pics in a minute. This was going to be my first time away from Jayden for more than an hour! Since Jared and I and my parents were going to the wedding together, it was Aunt Stacy's first big babysitting job!

Now for the beautiful wedding pictures. Tina looked like a bride who just stepped out of a wedding magazine. She was beautiful and so was the whole wedding and reception. Congratulations, Tina and Johnny!!!













The wedding was amazing, but we did have to leave the reception a littttle bit early because Jayden was not a happy camper that night. Stacy did a great job taking care of him though. (for 7 + hours!!) Good job, Stacy! and thanks for watching him!!!

Jayden is ONE MONTH old!!!

Wow! Time has flown by! Jayden is now a month old. Actually, tomorrow he will be 5weeks! Crazy! He is getting bigger (and heavier!) every day. He has not been to the doctor since he was 2 weeks old and he does not have a 1 month well baby visit... so we do not know how much he weighs or how long he is. We tried weighing and measuing him from home. We think he is now weighing in at 8 pounds 12 ounces and is 22 inches long. His next appointment is Oct. 21 which is his 2 month check up.

Jayden is doing great! He is so cute and sweet. He is not on a schedule- he does what he wants! haha He does sleep at night for about 4 hours in a row. It is just a matter of WHEN he decides to go to sleep. He is the newborn who DOES NOT like to sleep! One day, he was awake from 10 am until 11 pm!!!

At this time, he does not care for his swings or bouncy chair. All he likes is to be held. He likes to lay on people and fall asleep on your chest. He can be completely fast asleep on someone, but as soon as you lay him down anywhere--crib, swing, sofa, bed, cradle, bouncy... he wakes up within 3 minutes! It is kinda frustrating because it makes it very difficult to get things done around the house... or even to get a shower! haha

He does cry a lot! Sometimes it is so hard because he cries and I don't know what to do for him. Jared is so funny because he carries Jayden around in this carrier and it does help calm him down. It is so cute!!!

I'm trying to think of things that have happened this first month of his life:

-Jayden has had LOTS of visitors! :)
-Mommy and Daddy are VERY sleep deprived! :)
-clogged tear duct has cleared up and is fine (the first couple weeks we were having to massage it w/ warm cloth)
-Umbilical cord fell off at 3 weeks
-gets sponge bath every other night
-takes vitamin dropper Tri Vi Sol nightly
-We read books to him almost every night
-Still in newborn size diapers
-veryy gassy-- burps a lot and LOUDLY!!! farts/poops LOUD-- funny how such a little guy produces so much gas and dirty diapers... we go through a wholllleee lot of diapers and wipes!
-does not like to be swaddled
-had 2 week pictures made at Portrait Innovations
-very wiggly and stong... can hold his head up by himself...for bits at a time
-likes to stare at people while being held
-only likes the swing at Nana and Pop Pop's house... does not care about any of his swings at home!
-squeezes mommy's finger when he's eating... it is so cute!
-crosses his feet and curls up in a ball
-cries when he first gets strapped in his car seat, but then falls asleep once we drive around in the car (a couple nights when he won't stop screaming we put him in the car and drive around!!!)
-does a "lip quiver" when he cries... it gets us everytime!

2 weeks old

Jayden is now 2 weeks old! I don't have much time to blog or get on facebook or do pretty much anything except for take care of him. It is all worth it though. I love being a mom. Jared loves being a dad. It is so wonderful to have Jayden and we just love him so much. I try not to think about this but I have to go back to work October 1 so I am really trying to enjoy every second I have before then.

Jayden is asleep on Jared right now. It is really cute. He loves to fall asleep on people!

Last Wednesday, Jared and I took Jayden for his 2 week check up at the pediatrician. He weighed 7 lbs 14 ozs. Everything checked out fine! On his 2 week birthday, my mom and I took him to Portrait Innovations for his first pictures. They took 114 and we chose our favorite 10. Here they are.....












I know I am his mom, but I think he is a cutie pie!!!!!!!!!!! He's my little stinker! :)
