my project

So I have wanted to buy letters to spell out Jayden's name for his room. I have been looking around for a while, but never saw exactly what I wanted. They were either too big, too small, not the right color, or too expensive. I finally saw cute colored letters at USA Baby but each letter was $10 something... which is a lot!!! I decided to go to JoAnn Fabrics and buy the plain old wooden ones and paint them myself! I got each letter for 99 cents!! The paints were on sale for 89 cents each and the paint brushes were on sale for 20 cents each! This was much better because I could match the paint colors to the colors in Jayden's bedding, they were cheap, and best of all, they were made by me! :)

I also bought 4 wooden picture frames and painted those also with different patterns on them. I did not take pictures of them yet. I also did not hang them up yet, but they are very cute and you will see them once the nursery is finished. We are still waiting on the armoire, which should be in any day now! Once we get that set up, I will be ready to wash all of Jayden's clothes and blankets and put them away and the nursery will be finsihed. I am so excited about his room!!!!

Anyways, here are what the letters looked like before I hung them up...

I was not sure how I wanted to hang them because I did not want them to break by sticking a nail right through the thin wood. I finally decided to hot glue blue ribbon to each letter and tie a bow with the ribbon. Then I hammered a nail through the ribbon and hung the letters! I am so proud of myself because I did this all by myself! Jared is going to be surprised when he comes home! I have never used a hammer and nails before! hahaha

Here is what the letters look like hanging... I love them!!!

32 week picture

I forgot to add my 32 month picture in the M&M pajamas! They are getting WAY TOO TIGHT! However, I was able to squeeze them on for my 8 month picture!

It's a good thing we're down to the end! There is light at the end of the tunnel! :)

Outer Banks 2009

After all of my kidney stone and hospital adventures, it was perfect timing for vacation. Jared and I spent the week with my family and the Hesch family in Kitty Hawk, NC for an awesome week at the beach! We go to the beach every summer and we always have a great time. Of course it always goes by too fast!!!

We had nice weather, too! I did miss out on getting in the water, laying out on the beach, and doing some other activities I normally would do at the beach, but having Jayden will all be worth it! I was extremely hot out on the beach, but still managed to sit under the umbrella at least for a while each day. I drenched myself in sunscreen and plopped myself in my beach chair. haha

I bought two maternity bathing suits just for this trip!

Our beach house was not directly on the beach, but it was just across the street. Not a far walk at all...it was a cute house with a hot tub (which I could not get in either!)

We did not do too much this year at the beach besides go to the beach, relax, and play games. That's all we wanted to do! We ate good food and played lots of games! If you know my family, you know we love to play games... especially rummy! :)

We had a nice deck to sit and relax on. We took several pictures out on the deck throughout the week. Here are a few...

Jared, Norm, and I played miniature golf one night. Norm won. I came in second. Jared, well, he did not do so hot! haha It was really fun playing! The Phillies played the Rays three nights while we were there and Norm and Jared were funny cheering on their teams! They even wore their shirts out to play golf. :)

We celebrated Phoebe's upcoming birthday with "two-bite" cupcakes (one bite for some) haha :) Happy Birthday, Phoebe!!!

What a nice vacation at the beach! Can't wait to go back next summer!

Babies, Parties, Summer Vacation, and Kidney Stones..........

So all lot has been going on lately and I have not had time to blog about it!!! I am going to try to sum up the past few weeks as quickly as I can...

On Thursday, June 11, 2009 my good friend Dara (also a second grade teacher at my school) had her baby! It's a BOY!!! Scutter Allen Lee weighed in at 7 pounds 7 ounces and is absolutely adorable! I got to visit him and Dara at the hospital on Friday, June 12 and I could not stop looking at him and admiring how cute he is!!! Congratulations, Dara! I am so glad we both have boys to play together! :)

The last day of school was Friday, June 12. It was only a half day and my classroom was all packed up. Even the chairs and desks were pushed against the wall. I decided it would be fun to have the kids bring in a bag of chips and a board game. We would spread out around the room, eat chips, and play games. Since Dara was at the hospital, I took her class, too, and the kids had a blast snacking and playing! I was SHOCKED at how many chips came in!!!

I already miss my kids. I even had a few cry saying how much they were going to miss me and school over the summer... awww!!!! :(

Saturday, June 13 was a teacher workday just to finish up everything and turn in our "end-of-the-year checklists" and everything else. It started off a fine happy day. After all, it was the last day of work and the first real day of SUMMER VACATION!!!!!!!! :)

Being pregnant I have to pee, a LOT, but Saturday something was different. I kept feeling like I had to pee, but it was not the same.... it was like that burning sensation to pee constantly. Jared and I tried to watch a movie, but I could not even sit on the couch because I was so uncomfortable. I thought I was getting a urinary tract infection or something... then I started throwing up!!! Then, the back pain kicked in... HORRIBLE, AWFUL, TERRIBLE back pain... like I can not even describe. Jared called his mom who called the doctor at MCV (she is a L & D nurse there) who was going to call in a perscription for me. Then when he heard about the back pain he wanted me to come in to get checked out. So, we went to the hospital Saturday evening. Longgggggg story short....... I had a kidney infection. I was dehydrated. There was blood in my urine. My body was fighting an infection. I felt so crummy.

Then it turned out not only did I have a kidney infection, I had a kidney stone. I was in the hospital until Tuesday. I passed the kidney stone AKA boulder on Tuesday morning. I felt so much better after passing the stone. My doctor said labor should be a breeze after seeing how big the stone was.

There is a lot more details, but I don't have time to write them all out now.... more to come later!!! :)

Surprise Baby Shower!

I was completely surprised today by my class!

I thought I was bringing my class to my friend Jennifer's room to play math games. But when we walked in, it was a BABY SHOWER!!! I had NO idea!!! There was an adorable cake, chips/dip, fruit and other snacks, punch, "It's a boy" lollipops for all the kids, "It's a boy" banners, balloons, everything! HOW SWEET IS THAT?!?! Also, several of my kids' parents came in, too. It was so great and a lot of fun for me and also for the kids. They were extremely excited and wild!! :)

I got some very nice gifts- blankets, toys, diapers, clothes, hats, bottles, pacifiers, and best of all, a quilt! Not just any quilt... but a quilt that my whole class contributed to. Each one of my kids drew a picture on a square and then one of my kids' mom put them all together and made an AWESOME quilt!!! I took a bunch of pictures of it, but it is even cuter in person. I don't know how it is even possible to turn the pictures into fabric on a quilt, but it is precious.

They are all so cute, but I think this one is so funny! I love the "stand back 100,00 feet" :)

What a nice surprise today!!! I love this quilt!!!

I did not take pictures with my camera (because I had no idea about this shower!!!) but when I get them from the parents I will post more. The cake was soo cute!!! Everything was very nice!!! I can't believe they pulled that past me and I truly had no idea!
