Previous Post Part II : The Remote

This is a video clip of Jayden with the remote once he crawled to it. (It would not let me post 2 videos in the same post. Remember to turn down/off the music at the bottom of my blog.)

It's official... he's on the move!

We've got a crawler on our hands! Time to baby-proof! :)

Destination: The TV remote. Pay attention to his leg moves! HAHA

Visit with Uncle Jordan

Jared's brother Jordan has moved to Chicago and last weekend he came home for a visit to VA. We got to spend a few hours with them Sat. morning.

Jayden loved visiting with his Uncle Jordan!

Jordan brought his girlfriend, Danielle, too! It was great to meet her!

Jordan and Jared with their mom

We are super excited for June when we get to see them again... PLUS Justin, Rachel, Andrew and BRANDON- who we have not met yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) YAY!

Jared's Big News!!!

In 2004, Jared and I were living in Radford going to college. Jared got a job at a local Target store because he wanted to have some money to purchase an engagement ring for me… awww! Anyway, he started off as a part time sales floor team member. Little did he know at that point Target would become his career.

Jared majored in business and became very interested in Target as a long time career opportunity. So, senior year of college, Jared applied for an Executive Internship with Target. He was accepted and had a great experience. He was offered an Executive Team Leader position at the end of the internship, but he decided to wait one year to start so he could get his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Jared did the fast track MBA at Radford and then we moved to Fredericksburg so Jared could begin his “real” career. Since moving to Fredericksburg, Jared has held two different Executive positions with promotions. His goal was to one day be promoted to a general store manager (Store Team Leader/STL).

Recently, Jared has been getting closer and closer to reaching his goal. He has completed several interviews to become a STL. There was one final interview with the Regional Vice President that was yesterday morning. He felt very comfortable with the interview, but it was not until yesterday afternoon that he WAS OFFICIALLY SIGNED OFF AS A STL!!!!!

We will know more information about location, etc. very soon. I could not be happier for Jared. He works so hard and is so dedicated to his job. He is going to be a great store manager. I LOVE Target… not just because he works for them… it is just my favorite store for everything!!! There is no better company for Jared to work for in my opinion. They have always treated him very well and he is anticipating a long and happy career there!

Jared--- You are amazing and we are ALL so proud of you!

Now, let’s find ourselves a house! :)

Jayden is EIGHT MONTHS old!!!

It is so hard to believe that our baby is 8 months old already!!!

A lot has been going on with Jayden this month... these updates are in no particular order!

-He sleeps SO great at night… we put him to bed around 9 and he wakes up around 7 – just in time to eat/ change and head to school (daycare)… On weekends he will sleep until 8ish :)

-At 7-71/2 months, he started crawling BACKWARDS- between that and the rolling all over the place, he really gets around well! He can also sit himself up after being on his tummy.

-He is still wearing size 3 diapers.

-He has always loved taking baths and now plays with his bath toys in the tub… he likes to bang his rubber duckies together and then laugh at himself!

-He takes a while to drink his bottles because he is constantly “talking” and looking around at everything.

-He uses his paci and blankie to sleep with… we love watching him sleep….all curled up on his side with one leg crossed over the other!

-He is eating so many different fruits and veggies… stage 2 Gerber… LOVES them all!!! He also has oatmeal and whole grain cereals that he loves… so far the only thing he will not eat are the meats… maybe he will be a vegetarian! Or maybe it is just because they smell pretty DISGUSTING … like cat food!!! Haha

-He typically takes 4-5 five ounce bottles per day.

Approximate eating schedule:
7:00 AM – 5 oz bottle
8:30 AM – Oatmeal Cereal or yogurt
11:00 AM – 5 oz bottle
3:00 PM – 5 oz bottle / Fruit
6:00 PM – Whole Grain Cereal / Vegetable – sometimes 3 oz bottle after dinner
8 or 9:00 PM – 5 oz bottle

-Speaking of eating and talking, Jayden makes a growling noise. It seems to come out most when he is eating, but it is a true GROWL… it is kinda scary…but funny! One day when I picked him up at daycare, his teachers told me that they call him the class clown because he growls and makes everyone laugh! They even had other teachers come in to check out this growl. Haha

-He celebrated his first Easter with egg hunts, bunny masks, bubbles, Easter baskets, and family fun!

-You rode in your canopy wagon for the first time!

-He tried “Puffs” for the first time… “tried” is keyword… he doesn’t care for them too much.

-He went on his first FAMILY VACATION to NEW YORK CITY!!!! He was so good in the car and the whole time we were on the trip…. Maybe cried a total of 5 minutes throughout the entire trip. :)

-He has started pulling up on things… including his crib rails… so we had to lower his crib this week! Now he is nice and safe in there!

-He has already had his two bottom teeth, but top teeth are on their way, as well as his third one on the bottom (you can see the white dot!) Needless to say, we’ve been using a lot of Orajel lately.

-We have not been to the doctor in almost 2 months! Jayden has been healthy! I guess daycare has now helped build up his immunity system. We do not know for sure how much he weighs, but from our home calculations, he is about 20 pounds and around 29 inches long.

-The coolest thing is he started saying DADA... he says DADADADADA and it is so cute!

Love him to pieces!!!!

Hair Change

I decided to make a drastic change with my hair! I had it colored close to my natural color, got blonde highlights, and cut A LOT off... especally in the back! It is very short in the back and gets longer toward the front. I'm happy with it! :)

Spontaneous Vacation April 5-7, 2010

This week was spring break for me. Jared took off a few days and we decided we wanted to go on a family vacation. We talked about going to Williamsburg or Virginia Beach, but we were not 100% sure. We still were not 100% sure when we pulled out of my parents’ driveway Monday morning. (we left Fred there!)

We packed up Jayden and all of our stuff and started driving. We were going on an adventure! We were joking about just going where the wind takes us. Haha! We decided to get on 95North. Maybe Annapolis, MD? Washington DC? We would just see how well the baby did in the car and stop whenever he needed to find a place to stay the night.

Well, Jared and I talked and thought it would be awesome to drive to New York City! So we did! It really was our adventure! The drive up there was supposed to be about 6 hours, but it ended up taking us 12 hours because of traffic, accidents, etc. Jayden was SO good!

Since we had no plan, we called my mom and she found us a hotel (which was SUPER COOL!) and she gave us directions into the city. Luckily, Jared was driving and not me because it was pretty crazy driving in New York City!!!

Who would have thought we would stay in a nice hotel in TIMES SQUARE for 2 nights?!? It was the best spontaneous trip I have ever taken! We pretty much went to bed when we got there since it was so late on Monday night. But Tuesday we woke up and had a busy day in the city, starting with the Today Show! :)

Seriously, for having a 7 month old baby, stroller, etc. we did a lot... Today show, Times Square, Empire State Building, subway ride to Statue of Liberty, long walks through Central Park, and much more! Our favorite part was taking Jayden into the toy store and walking around Times Square at night (which yes, Jayden is wearing his PJs in Times Square at night—we had him all ready for bed so he could fall asleep in the stroller!) We stayed the night Tuesday then left Wednesday morning. It only took us 6 hours to get home.

We had such a FUN time!!!!! We LOVE NY! :)

Now for pictures..... lots of them!
