Crazy Week!

Our little Bella is now 3 weeks old! I never posted about her 2 week check-up on 8/16/11, but everything was great! Here are her stats from that appointment:

Height: 20 1/4" (50%)
Weight: 6 lb. 14.6 oz. (10%)
Head: 34 cm (5%)

She is a little cutie pie! She is eating about 3 oz every 3 hours, and sleeps a lot during the day, but keeps us up a LOT at night. She is very gassy and I think she has colic like her brother did........she pees and poops a LOT. Like A LOT. I can't express a lot enough. Literally, we are using about 20 diapers a day. 20 diapers MINIMUM. I feel like all I do is change diapers, pump, feed babies, chase Jayden, burp Bella, wash pump pieces, wash bottles, wash sippy cups, do laundry, BUT it is all worth it! I LOVE being home with Jayden and Bella and I am so thankful that Jared and I made the decision for me to stay home this year. (even if I do not have time to take a shower until Jared gets home from work) :)

Jayden is TWO years old. He is such an awesome little boy. He is like a sponge and soaks up everything we do and say! When I get more time, I will write about all the things he is into these days.... but time is limited right now! And I have a story...

So, here's the quick version of my story..........

Jayden had his 2 year check up at the pediatrician on Tuesday, 8/23/11. His appointment was at 2:15 p.m. Jayden takes his nap every day from about 12-2. We wanted to wait until the last possible minute to wake him up to take him to this appointment. And since Bella is so little, I was going to stay home with her and Jared was going to take Jayden to the doctor. Jared and I were standing in the kitchen talking. I was holding Bella. It was about 1:50 pm. All of a sudden, we heard a loud noise and our house started SHAKING. All I could think of was our house was just going to fall down! The glass in our china cabinet was clicking and shaking together. The tile floor beneath our feet was shaking, the walls were shaking, the wood kitchen table was so loud vibrating against the floor, EVERYTHING was shaking! We looked at each other kinda in shock! We did not really know what was going on. Honestly, my first thought was we were under attack! :/

Jared suddenly yelled, "Take Bella and go to the basement!" He ran up to get Jayden (who was sleeping in his bed upstairs.) Literally, by the time I was on the third step of the basement stairs heading down, Jared had already gone upstairs, down the hall, scooped Jayden out of bed, ran back down the hallway, down the stairs, through the hall downstairs and he had already caught up with me on the third stair!!! haha By this point, the shaking had stopped and loud background noise had gone away. We both immediately tried to make phone calls to see if anyone else felt that. There was no cell phone service at all.

We did realize it must have been an earthquake, but it was just sooo crazy!!! It turns out it was a magnitude 5.8 earthquake!

Now, we did not have any cell service and we didn't really know what was going on. So, jared was going to head on and take jayden to the doctor and I was going to follow with Bella, and bring Jayden home after the appt. so Jared could head straight to work since he had to close that night. No more than 10 minutes after Jared left with Jayden, they came back. Jared had received a phone call saying his store had damage and he needed to head up to Target right away.

By this time we were pretty late for the appointment, but phones were still not working so I could not even call the doctor's office. I decided I would take BOTH kids out for the first time by myself and venture to Jayden's doc. appt.

It was not easy, but I managed! Jayden got his flu shot and his Hep A shot, but he only cried for a minute. He was happy to get the lollipop after. :)

Jayden's 2 year doctor's appointment stats:

Height: 36" (90%)
Weight: 27 lb. 3 oz. (48%)
Head: 48 cm. (35%)

His doctor predicted (based on some formula) that he is going to be over 6 ft. tall!

After the appointment, we came home to a house full of crooked pictures on the wall. Thankfully, everyone was ok from this crazy VA earthquake! We can handle crooked picture frames.

Now we are bracing for HURRICANE IRENE that is going to hit the east coast this weekend...

This sure is a CRAZY week!
