Since that day, I have spent a couple more days at school getting more things ready and finally, it is ALMOST done! I still have several boxes, but they are boxes FULL of RANDOM papers that just need to be filed in the file cabinet. I want to spend some time getting all my papers organized, BUT if something happens and I can't get to that it is okay. All that really matters is that my room is set up and presentable to kids and parents.
Whenever Jayden comes I have 6 weeks with him before I go to work. (unless I have to have a c-section then I get 8 weeks) Anyways, the teachers go back to work on Monday, Aug. 17 and that is our "teacher work week" before the kids come the following week, Monday, Aug. 24. I am planning to work if Jayden has not come yet, but who knows what is going to happen. Here's the issue.... I have a WONDERFUL sub, but she is unable to come during the work week. Her first day is going to be the kids first day, too. That means, my room has to be ready AND I have to meet with her to go over everything BEFORE the first day of school... actually, before the work week since she will be out of town that week. Hopefully, I will be able to at least make it to "Open House" which is the Friday before school starts so I can meet my kids and parents, etc.
I have REALLY been stressing about all of this soooo much. I needed to get my room ready ASAP so I could relieve some of this stress!!! I had to wait until the floors were waxed, carpet cleaned, and this year, they even painted the insides of our classrooms with fresh paint! So literally, EVERY single thing had to be done.
I have put up some pictures of what it looks like....... like I said, there is still plenty to do, but at least it is coming together!
Welcome to 2nd grade... room 22... my classroom!!!
SMART board!!!!! yay!

Your classroom looks great. No one will ever understand how much of a pain setting up a classroom is until they do it! But it is worth it! It looks great! Its very colorful and I love all the finishing touches.
When I was in your empty classroom all these memories came back to me about how much I hated the first day of school. I think I hated school in general. I cried a lot at school and I know my teachers always had to be very patient and gentle with me. If any of your kids have that little "issue" (I'm at a loss for a better word), they are lucky to have you because I KNOW you are a very patient and gentle person.
I love you sis!
Cindy, the room looks great! You are such a caring and conscientious teacher. I know you will be the same kind of mother. Now, get off your feet and relax!
Reading Stacy's comment brought back a lot of memories to me, too! Stacy: Remember the time the assistant principal had to carry you off the bus in kindergarten because you wouldn't go inside the school? hahaha But you did it!! Now you are all grown up and independent. Thank goodness for sticker charts and caring teachers (like Cindy).
Every child is different - with different fears, abilities, personalities and aspirations. Continue to be proud of each child's accomplishments.
Love you!
Awww, I can't say anything to top Stacy and your Mom's comments...but they're so right and it's so true! Your kids are so lucky to have you as their teacher, and Jayden's so lucky to have you and Jared as his parents!! xoxo
Cindy the classroom looks great! And you are in #22, thats my lucky number! So I know you will have a great year! :) I cant believe Jayden's arrival is just around the corner!
