We packed up Jayden and all of our stuff and started driving. We were going on an adventure! We were joking about just going where the wind takes us. Haha! We decided to get on 95North. Maybe Annapolis, MD? Washington DC? We would just see how well the baby did in the car and stop whenever he needed to find a place to stay the night.
Well, Jared and I talked and thought it would be awesome to drive to New York City! So we did! It really was our adventure! The drive up there was supposed to be about 6 hours, but it ended up taking us 12 hours because of traffic, accidents, etc. Jayden was SO good!
Since we had no plan, we called my mom and she found us a hotel (which was SUPER COOL!) and she gave us directions into the city. Luckily, Jared was driving and not me because it was pretty crazy driving in New York City!!!
Who would have thought we would stay in a nice hotel in TIMES SQUARE for 2 nights?!? It was the best spontaneous trip I have ever taken! We pretty much went to bed when we got there since it was so late on Monday night. But Tuesday we woke up and had a busy day in the city, starting with the Today Show! :)
Seriously, for having a 7 month old baby, stroller, etc. we did a lot... Today show, Times Square, Empire State Building, subway ride to Statue of Liberty, long walks through Central Park, and much more! Our favorite part was taking Jayden into the toy store and walking around Times Square at night (which yes, Jayden is wearing his PJs in Times Square at night—we had him all ready for bed so he could fall asleep in the stroller!) We stayed the night Tuesday then left Wednesday morning. It only took us 6 hours to get home.
We had such a FUN time!!!!! We LOVE NY! :)
Now for pictures..... lots of them!

Good for you! No itinerary necessary to have a great time. You are so lucky Jayden is a good baby. You used to hate riding in the car when you were a baby -- I remember having to stop at convenience stores just to have to walk you around for a while. By the way, Jayden called me last night and he wants to come give me a hug. I'll be waiting. : )
So fun! We've never done a spontaneous and unplanned trip before. That's awesome, I'm jealous! :) Glad it all worked out so well.
ps- I cracked up reading your Mom's post. My Dad does the SAME thing about Jacob "calling" him. In fact he just called me about an hour ago and said, "hey, Jacob called and really wants to hang out with me tonight..so, let's make that work." Our parents are so cute! :)
You guys are awesome! It is great that you still do that even with a little one. I know so many people who stop doing this kind of stuff once they have a baby. Little ones learn to ride well and do crazy stuff when it is part of their lives:) Ask my kiddos!! We do crazy stuff ALL the time!!
