I'm a blogger now!

Well... the life of a teacher means you have summer vacation! Summer vacation with nothing to do can get a little boring sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy relaxing and not having to stress out about school stufff 24/7! To keep me busy, I decided to start a blog! I'm a blogger now! I have several friends who blog, as well as my cousin... ah hem! I always love reading other people's blogs... so here I am! :)

There is not much going on in my life right now. I am just a second grade teacher enjoying her summer vacation. I am excited to start a new school year soon. It is always fun to set up your classroom and meet your new kiddos. This will be my third year teaching. I taught first grade one year in Pulaski County, then moved to Fredericksburg and started teaching second grade in Spotsylvania County. I really like my school, coworkers, kids, and job a lot.

Jared keeps very busy with his job at Target. He started out working for Target when he was in college at Radford University. He pretty much got the job to pay his way through school (and to get money so he could purchase my engagement ring!) He was just a regular old team member who worked on the sales floor. After doing that for a couple years and enjoying it, he decided to apply for an "Executive Internship" senior year of college. He got the job, loved it, and knew he wanted to work the busy, on-the-go life of a retail manager, rather than sit at a desk in an office all day. After the internship, he landed a job as a Target ETL (Executive Team Leader)... AKA a manager. He got his MBA in one year and then began his ETL career! He was doing the "Guest Experience" side of things. After 6 months of that position, he began a new position as the ETL "Logistics." This has pros and cons. The major con is that he has to be at work at 3:30 AM! To make that happen, he goes to bed around 7 PM and wakes up around 2 AM. OUCH! It is okay though because he really likes his job and *hopefully* this is his last stop before becoming an STL (store manager). He has really worked his way up the ladder at Target. I'm very proud of him! :)

Speaking of Jared working at Target for a long time...
He even worked as the Target Protection Specialist AKA Security!!! Here are some old pictures I found of him in college in the cool uniform! LOL

We have a dog named Fred, too. Fred is such a good dog. Jared adopted Fred our senior year of high school. He is 6 years old now and will turn 7 on December 13, 2008. I'm sure I will post pictures of Fred on this new blogging thing!
