Jayden's Mickey Party

Jayden is OBSESSED with Mickey Mouse! It was the perfect theme for his 2nd Birthday party. Jayden is going to be 2 on August 20. Isabella's due date is August 14. We decided to celebrate Jayden's birthday with family early for 2 reasons. Reason 1: We did not want to have it too close to Isabella's due date just in case she comes a little early, or have to worry about a party 6 days after she is born! Reason 2: Jared's brother, Justin, his wife Rachel, and our nephews Andrew and Brandon were in town visiting from Florida and we wanted them to be able to come to Jayden's party. So, we went ahead and planned our family party for July 16. It was at Nana and Pop Pop's house. We are going to have a little party for Jayden's friends here closer to his real birthday. It will just be something small, though. Maybe pizza and ice cream at our house one day after playdate? I still need to figure that out...

We were pretty busy the week before Jayden's party. We spent a week at the beach, then my mom had to go out of town for work and we were busy hanging out with Justin, Rachel, and the kids. Friday night my mom, Stacy, and I went to the grocery store and got all the things we needed. We stayed up until after 1 am baking cookies and cupcakes and getting some of the food prepared. Then we woke up really early Saturday morning and continued working really hard right up until the party started.

These two pictures were taken reallllly late (like 1 am- way past my bedtime!) when we were decorating Mickey sugar cookies. :)

Saturday morning, Jared's big "job" was to carve my Mickey watermelon. I found a picture online of Mickey's head and traced it on the watermelon. Jared carved it out and scopped out the yummy watermelon. Then we added in the fresh fruit- blueberries, strawberries, grapes, and watermelon. :) It turned out great!

Stacy found awesome tattoos at Party City and she became the artist of the party. We all got tatted up! Jayden was the first. He got Pluto!

Check it out, Jayden!

Saturday morning, Rachel came over to help us decorate the cupcakes and set up the rest of everything for the party. I found Mickey cupcake ideas online and combined some different things I found to make these cupcakes! We had an assembly line going... Rachel broke the oreos, mom iced the cupcakes, Jared and Stacy "glued" the mini oreo ears onto the Mickey head, and I transported them to the dining room.

Jared went out to pick up all the cool balloons I had pre-ordered at Party City. Here is one of the Mickey head. :)

The dining room...

Here are the cupcakes. Mickey Cupcakes! :)

Here are more pictures from Jayden's party. Thank you, Nana and Pop Pop for having the party at your house. Thank you everyone who was able to come and celebrate our little Jayden turning two!!! Jayden got so many nice gifts! He is having fun wearing his new clothes, playing with his new toys, and reading his new books. We all got lots of tattoos and had a fun time!

Oh, and after the party was over, I went out to the porch to find this: Pop Pop and Jayden. And Jayden was SOAKED. At first, Pop Pop was just squirting him with a water pistol, then it turned into dumping water on Jayden's head. Jayden was having a blast! :)

Happy Birthday, Jayden! Say Cheers! :)
